15 Signs You’re a Dog Mom

If you’re a dog mom, then this Mother’s Day, you deserve to be celebrated, too!

Being a dog mom means planning your day-to-day life around your four-legged companion’s schedule. That means coming home at a certain time, making sure he’s well fed and taking him on daily adventures.

But as you know, all of these dog mom tasks are more of a privilege than a chore, because being a pet owner to the best pooch in the world is priceless.

What does every dog mom have in common besides being Su-paw-woman? Glad you asked!

While sipping on your morning coffee (in your dog mom mug, of course) and snuggling up with your fur child, check out these 15 signs that are sure to indicate your dog mom-ness this Mother’s Day.

Your dog always turns your frown upside down.

No matter what challenges the day brings, the moment you walk through that front door, your dog instantly makes things better.

He’s there for you through the good times and the bad, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. After all, he knows who he gets his daily belly rubs from, and he’d do anything not to see his pet parent upset.

You get abnormally excited to give your dog presents.

Nothing beats “just because” presents. Everything about it is exciting! The doorbell, the Chewy box, and then, of course, the goodies. Not only does your fur baby get to enjoy this experience, but you oddly enjoy giving your pupper presents just as much.

The different kinds of presents you can give your fur child are endless. Save yourself the headache and try a Chewy Goody Box that comes packed with dog treats and toys that will keep him (and you!) amused for hours on end.

You talk to your dog as if he were human.

Sure, your pup doesn’t speak “human,” but he will listen! Dogs are perfect to vent to and will never judge you for what you have to get off your chest.

We have a feeling that the most common thing you tell your pet is how much you love him. And although he can’t understand you, he can definitely feel all that dog mom love!

The only plans you commit to on the weekend are plan with your dog.

If there are plans that don’t include your dog, it’s usually very rare you’ll go. Why? Because nothing beats adventuring with your four-legged friend.

Dog parks, hikes, beaches and camping! You never miss an opportunity to bring your dog along, and you always find a way to cancel if your fur baby can’t tag along.

You never miss an opportunity to celebrate your dog.

Birthdays, milestones or even just for being a good boy! Any chance you get to celebrate your dog by throwing him a party is an opportunity you jump on. Because that’s just the dog mom you are!

You put more effort into picking out your dog's Halloween costume than you do your own.

While you are rocking your I’d Rather Be With My Dog Tank Top, your dog is dressed to impress for all of the trick-or-treaters who come knocking on your door.

And although you always get invited to go somewhere on Halloween, watching your dog greet everyone in a pirate costume wins every year.

You always wonder who rescued who?

Your dog is more than you could’ve ever imagined he’d be when you took him home. You always catch yourself thinking about how lucky you are to have each other.

Most proud pet owners rock a “Who Rescued Who?” sticker on their car, so everyone can know just how blessed you feel to be a dog mom.

Your dog always comes up in any conversation you have.

If you’re not with your dog, you’re talking about him. What he did the other day, what you guys are doing later and the plans you have next weekend to head to the dog park. You just can’t help it. Even if the person you’re talking to isn’t that interested, you will go on for hours!

Your social media pages have more pictures of your dog than yourself.

Why post a picture of yourself when you have 50 pictures that you took of your dog that day? Part of being a dog mom means annoying all of your friends on social media.

And while many may think you’re posting too much, you feel as though you haven’t posted enough of your four-legged child!

Leaving your dog for the day or when traveling never gets easier.

Not the puppy dog eyes! Your dog would do anything for you to stay 24/7, but that’s just not possible. And although you have to leave home to go do your human stuff, like work, errands and shopping, you can’t wait to get back to your pup and reunite.

You have your dog's vet on speed dial.

You and your dog’s vet are basically BFFs. She’s seen your fur child grow up into the amazing pooch he is, and she’s there for you during any health crisis.

You take your dog anywhere that allows pets.

You’ll wine and dine your pupper any day, and you’ll spend hours looking for places around town that will allow you to do that.

You try and take your dog to any place you go, and chances are you pick places just for that very reason.

You've unfriended people who have come into your home without acknowledging your dog.

If someone comes into your home and does anything but make a beeline toward a wagging tail attached to a pup that’s begging for some attention, the decision is clear. You can no longer be friends—that’s your fur child we’re talking about!

You are not bothered by dog hair everywhere.

Dog hair, don’t care! You embrace the shedding and love being the one to keep your pooch nice and groomed. After all, it’s another opportunity to bond while furminating away. What more could you ask for?

You base your travel decisions off of whether the location is dog-friendly or not.

If you have the opportunity to go on a trip with your fur baby, you’re going to do it. Chances are, you’ll plan your trip around dog-friendly hotels and all of the things there are to do with your pupper while you’re there.
