When You Shop at Chewy on Giving Tuesday, We’ll Donate to Help Pets in Need

Happy Giving Tuesday! The annual celebration of do-goodery takes place December 1 this year, encouraging citizens across the world to perform acts of generosity—anything from volunteering in your community to donating to causes you care about. And what if we told you that you can be part of this global giving movement just by spoiling your pet? That’s right: Chewy’s making it possible to give back and give your pets all the things they need and deserve at the same time.

We’ve teamed up with Greater Good Charities to support the important work of pet shelters and rescues all across the country, and this Giving Tuesday, you can help us make an even bigger difference. Chewy will match the dollar amount of orders placed on December 1 (aka Giving Tuesday 2020) in a product donation to Greater Good Charities up to $2 million. These life-changing supplies will go to shelters and rescues, pet food banks, animal welfare organizations and more. The idea is simple: You shop, we donate, and pets across the country—including your own—get the things they need to live their best lives.

There’s never been a better time to stock up on the supplies your pet loves. And if you want to do even more, shop a shelter or rescue’s Wish List. Chewy will match those purchases, too, doubling your product donation—one from you, and one from us.

If you’re looking for the best ways to spoil your pet, we talked to the experts who work with pets every day—shelter and rescue workers—to find out what products pets really love. Read on to find out about their favorite products on their Chewy Wish Lists, which let you send the items shelters and rescues need right to their doorstep.

This bed helps in several ways: “The bolstering provides a little barrier that can make them feel ‘hidden,’” Neville says, “while the soft shag is more than welcoming for a nice snooze.”

Pedigree High Protein Beef & Lamb Dog Food

Pedigree High Protein Beef & Lamb Dog Food

If your dog is on the move non-stop, they might have the soul of a Greyhound. According to Tracey Bouchard, a volunteer at the Greyhound rescue Project Racing Home in Randleman, North Carolina, the active lifestyle of their dogs means they sometimes need a slightly different diet than your average pup. “These guys are used to eating a high-protein diet,” she says. (That’s what gives them the energy they need for zoomies galore.) So it’s no surprise that high-protein dog food like Pedigree High Protein Beef & Lamb Flavor Adult Dry Dog Food is an “always needed” item on their Wish List.

If you’re stocking up on essentials, shelters and rescues across the board have a major endorsement: Greenies Pill Pockets. Because, let’s face it: Whether you’re caring for dozens of animals at a shelter or raising one pet for their whole lifetime, chances are good that you’ll have to give them some medicine at some point along the way. “These are a great way to sneak meds into dogs who won’t eat them in their food,” Bouchard says. And she’s not alone—Greenies Pill Pockets are among some of the most popular Wish List products. (And don’t forget: Greenies makes pill pockets for cats, too.)
