Best Parka for Dogs

Perfectly warm for chilly days.
I bought this coat to keep my 4lb yorkie warm on cold days. I had a ridiculous time finding something small enough to fit him in retail stores. This was PERFECT. The fleece lining looks warm as well as the outside seems to be wind resistant. I love that the hood snaps on and off and the cutout on the belly is a bit higher than others I've found so it doesn't get soiled like other outfits I have that aren't made for tiny dogs.

Great dog jacket
Terrific jacket. I bought a large for my 17lb Cavapoo. Fit mostly perfect. It was a little short in the length, but not a deal-breaker. I would buy it again. Easy to put on and off. My dog didn’t like the hood, so I unsnapped it. Good feature. Loved Chewy’s service.

This parka looks great on my dog
The arm holes seemed a bit tight to get him into but once I got it on him it was very nice and fit very well.
Best Fleece Dog Jacket
-
She looks so cute
Light enough to wear on those more chilly days (25 F and under) without overheating in the car. Haven't had her wear it when it's warmer than that, but my review is on a German Shepard Mix - she's usually okay until it drops below 15 F.
-
Happy Christmas!
It’s for my 14 yr old Jack Russell Terrier. He’ll be a happy boy on Christmas morning. Which is his favorite holiday!
-
Love this coat!
This coat is so cute and has been keeping my dog cozy during New England winter. It fits true to size and is good quality. He’s been getting a lot of compliments at dog daycare!
Best Dog Coat for Large Dogs
-
Perfect!
Our 12yo GSP still loves his walks but the midwestern winters are a little harder on him so we decided it was time. It’s easy to put on/take off a goofy pointer. It keeps him warm and allows him freedom to move/squat/play catch. Lots of compliments :)
-
Comfortable and doesn’t produce static.
This is the first coat my dog didn’t mind wearing. It’s a little stiff but probably would soften with washes.
-
Wrestle proof!
My boy is a rottie/pittie and a bit of a spaz. He wrestles with his friend pretty hard. His personal move is dramatically flipping himself over on his back on the concrete sidewalk. The coat has held up nicely and the Velcro is super strong! Best coat purchase!
Best Dog Coat for Small Dogs
-
Insulated Jacket
The exterior of the jacket is polyester and snow and rain will not penetrate as quickly as other fabrics. It is a great fit and comfortable for my short-haired dog.
-
So warm!!
The suit is amazing. I had to size up as the small was too tight on my 12lb Shorkie because she is on the longer side. Medium size was perfect for her. Well made, looks fancy :)
-
Super soft & fits right
I got a size small for my 10 pound maltese and it fits her perfectly. It feels soft & super insulated.
Best Dog Snow Coat

Hurtta Coats are the best!!!
So far, everything I have bought from Hurtta has been top quality. I love it so much and my fur baby does too. It's easy to get on and keeps her warm and dry. This products are amazing so making this my go to from now on.
-
SO WORTH THE PRICE PAID
I think if you have a pitt or bigger go for 22m+. He could rip into it, but just muzzle biters when jacketed. Very impressive though, it was similar to a high in Columbia with heat core stuff
-
Nicely made
Like I said nicely made, fits beautifully, don't size up. Warm all over, and not overly bulky, I can also put my harness under the doggy snowsuit which was a plus as I didn't want to buy another. And surprisingly they like it, seems to calm them like a hug.
Best Dog Peacoat
-
Doggie winter coat w/hat.
Was a gift and Millie wears it proud. She looks savvy as she plays at the dog park and runs comfortably. Fits perfect. Washes perfect. Love it.
-
Adorable Coat!
I got this coat for my dog and she loves putting it on. It seems to keep her warm and looks absolutely adorable in it. It's good quality too.
-
Nice Coat
The coat fits great, and Poppi seems happy to put it on this cold weather. I am very happy with the choice I made from Chewy.
Best Reversible Dog Coat
-
Quality & flexible sizing
My 2 Pups are close in height, but very different builds. These jackets have the right amount of velcro to adjust the fit accordingly and the length is perfect. Some jackets are too short and only cover half the backside. Not every stocky dog is an English Bulldog.
-
Looks good!
The style looks great. My dog often gets compliments from other pedestrians on how nice my dog looks in this. And it seems to work well for (short) walks in sub-freezing temperatures
-
They love them!
I expected my 2 Basset Hounds to rip them to shreds. But they love them! They look sharp and Keep them warm! I'm glad I bought them.
Best Faux Fur Coat for Dogs
-
Beautiful coat!
It barely fits my dog in XXL but there wasn't a bigger size, but it fits well enough. This is a really nice coat in blk/white plaid with black velvet like trim. I love it!Very classic design!
-
How handsome he looks in this well-made jacket!
When it's cold outside, I hear others say "Ah, he is so cute in that little plaid jacket"! My dog gets a warm coat & I get kudos from on-lookers. I hear lots of positive remarks when he wears this. With Velcro straps, it is one of the easier jackets to put on a dog. Unfortunately, my preference was for the cute red version & it was out of stock 2 months ago, so I couldn't order it. That was disappointing. While it's fine for Virginia weather, I don't think it would be is suitable for very cold weather that many other states get.
-
Gracie’s New Coat
I order this in an XXL for my 60lb Golden Girl! This is the Best! Shes not even bothered by it. It’s soft and great quality. May I add the price is AMAZING! CHEWY representatives are also very knowledgeable and helpful with sizing! Thank you!
Best Corduroy Dog Coat

Recommend!
Maya is a Chihuahua and Miniature Pincher mix, she weighs in at 12 pounds and normally wears a small. But reading reviews I noticed it ran a bit small, and yes that is correct. I bought her a medium and it fits perfectly, a small would have been wayy too tiny. It’s a touch longer in the back but that’s not a problem. If your pup doesn’t mind Velcro, I definitely recommend. Just make sure you size up!
-
ADORABLE
This fits my Peke well. She actually tolerates the hood! Lol I love it! The M covers her nicely and keeps her warm in our cold winters!
-
Nice and Warm
It’s 9mph winds and a high of 50 today and my fur baby is nice and warm eyeing squirrels and birds from our yard!
Best Snood-Style Dog Coat
-
The snood
I really wasn’t sure if my 60 lbs of bad decisions dog would let me put the coat on, let alone wear it for more than 5 minutes. But he loves it. The snood comes up to his ears and keeps him warm.
-
Such a Winner!
Someone did their thinking when creating this dog sweater that is different than the rest of those that don't really work so well. My dog is a French Bullie. My dog's needs are 1) something that fits in the right places without binding her legs (which hurts her) 2) something that keeps her warm where the heat escapes, as in the soft adjustable shawl-like collar. THAT right there is such a winner! It's washable and we both love this sweater!
-
Too cute!
My dog hates things on his head, but didn’t seem to mind this. The fit is as described. I have a 17lb morkie who is quite long and the medium was on point.
Best Dog Raincoat
-
No rain yet to try this coat
I put it on him and it fits just right!!! I'm glad I measured his chest and length of his body. I can't wait until it rains to try it out then!!
-
Easy
Easy to put on. The hood is large but I already knew that part would be too big since my dog has an oddly small head for his body. It was true to size
-
Cute
Covers her whole body because she does not like to get wet when it rain, snow or hails. Fits well she has a funny body shape.
Best Waterproof Dog Coat
-
Full Coverage
This is perfect for those cold, wet, windy New England days! Her little chest stays warm, her neck is cozy and it’s so easy to on and off. The soft fleece on the inside, combined with the water repellent outside is great. She even prefers it on a rainy day it’s not cold out.
-
Top Notch Parka
The quality of the materials and craftsmanship are outstanding and I am extremely pleased with how well it keeps my little girl protected from inclement weather.
-
Hurtta is the best dog coat for cold winter climates!
Hurtta Expedition dog coat in a tiny size for our newest little rescue puppy is excellent! Our Lab mix has been wearing her Hurtta Expedition coat for 4 years hiking Maine trails and the ocean beaches and it keeps her well covered and protected in all kinds of winter weather and has held up for hundreds of miles!
Best Puffer Coat for Dogs
-
Longer than most
My dog is a little longer than most, so typical jackets in her size are too short (don't cover her full back). This one is actually perfect for her length wise. It's really cute too! It has an opening for the harness up by the neck, so you can put the harness on, then the jacket. I have no complaints about it and she's happily wearing it.
-
Lightweight
I bought 3 of my pups. I wanted a lightweight jacket to keep them warm. It is comfortable and they love them.
-
Attractive
Dog likes her new coat. She's a little chubby around the middle and the sizing is adjustable so it fits her!
Dog Coat FAQs
What are the benefits of putting a coat on a dog?
Dog coats aren’t just a fashion statement for Fido. They help keep your pet warm, cozy and safe during cold days in the fall and winter. The extra layer helps maintain their body temperature and can also provide protection from the wind, snow and rain.
Do dogs need to wear coats?
Not every dog needs to wear winter coats, especially if they already have a nice layer of fur to protect them. However, some small dog breeds, short-haired dogs, older dogs, and dogs with low body fat may benefit from an extra layer, notes Dr. Carol Osborne, DVM, a veterinarian at Chagrin Falls Veterinary Center & Pet Clinic in Ohio.
“I tell my patients, ‘If it’s too cold for you to go outside without a jacket, it’s probably too cold for your dog to go without a jacket, too,’” Dr. Osbourne says.
Dog coats can also protect from sleet, snow, and rain, as well as windy days. If your pup has sensitive skin or tends to get cold, a jacket or coat comes in very handy.
How do I pick the right coat for my dog?
The most important factors to keep in mind when shopping for dog coats is fit and comfort. You want to make sure to measure your pup and that the garment has a snug fit but isn’t too tight. Follow these instructions on how to properly measure your dog for clothing. Then refer to the coat manufacturer’s sizing chart.
From there, you can consider other details, such as reflective piping (great for nighttime walking), water-resistant materials for wet weather, or leash holes and/or d-rings for easy leash attachment. Also consider your particular climate since you don’t want a coat that’ll make your dog too warm or not warm enough.
