My dog weighs 11 pounds and her chest size is 16. I ordered a medium and it fits perfectly. She doesn't like to wear clothes, scarves, etc., so I need something that doesn't require a lot of fussing with, or she'll be trying to run away making the task even more difficult. with the Velcro closure it's pretty easy to get it closed, but it's sometimes crooked when all is said and done. But I'm not putting it on her for a fashion show, just to keep her warm and dry in cold snowy or rainy weather, so as long as it's secured and will stay on her I'm happy. This fits the bill and it still looks cute on her.

Too big when they were puppies, and now 3 years later it is actually cold enough with enough snow to put them in their coats (2 chi's). They do not like having them put on, so thank goodness they are extremely easy to put on (times2!) but once they are on the dogs don't seem to mind them at all, and get home a lot drier than otherwise. The simple velcro "straps" (they are wider than a strap and the same soft material as the rest of the coat) are extremely easy to connect to each other, in spite of a wriggling dog.

Great checkered raincoat!
I love this blue & black checkered raincoat; it is just perfect. I ordered an XXL for my 30-pound mini-Australian Shepherd (Sophi) so that it would be long enough down the back. And it fits very well--the coat goes just beyond her rear end so that the top of her tail is covered. Tightening the girth so that the two strips of Velcro cover one another makes the coat fit well but not tightly, which my dog prefers. I've had Sophi in rain and snow, and the coat has not leaked or soaked through. And she looks so good in it! As usual, Chewy got the raincoat to Sophi on time and in perfect condition.

When it's cold outside, I hear others say "Ah, he is so cute in that little plaid jacket"! My dog gets a warm coat & I get kudos from on-lookers. I hear lots of positive remarks when he wears this. With Velcro straps, it is one of the easier jackets to put on a dog. Unfortunately, my preference was for the cute red version & it was out of stock 2 months ago, so I couldn't order it. That was disappointing. While it's fine for Virginia weather, I don't think it would be is suitable for very cold weather that many other states get.

Maya is a Chihuahua and Miniature Pincher mix, she weighs in at 12 pounds and normally wears a small. But reading reviews I noticed it ran a bit small, and yes that is correct. I bought her a medium and it fits perfectly, a small would have been wayy too tiny. It’s a touch longer in the back but that’s not a problem. If your pup doesn’t mind Velcro, I definitely recommend. Just make sure you size up!

We have three of these now, and I love them so much. Made well, good quality, stays soft after every wash and doesn’t fall apart, and so easy to put on! The only oddity was the length of the Velcro straps for our eldest dog, but that’s more to do with the fact that he is thin and tall, long enough and tall enough to need a bigger size than he ought to weight wise is what I mean. This is not flimsy material! I had a very hard time trying to figure out which size to get for my dog even from reading reviews so I’m showing a picture here of our dog who is about 50 pounds and from neck to tail 25 1/2 inches.
