Cheers to your—and your dog’s—favorite time of year! With the weather ideal for extra-long dog walks and outdoor adventures, there’s plenty to get excited about. And this alcohol-free mutt mocktail, a DIY dog treat inspired by piña coladas, is a tasty way for you and your pup to celebrate the season.
With yummy dog-safe ingredients like unsweetened coconut milk and pineapple, your pooch will love to lap up this smoothie-like DIY dog treat, created by recipe developer, cookbook author and food blogger Alison Lewis. And since summer comes along with its own set of canine stressors (such as fireworks), it also features a few drops of Rescue Remedy Stress Relief Pet Supplement, a pet calming supplement designed to help soothe anxious pups.
If you want to sip on this summery beverage alongside your furry friend, you can easily transform this mutt mocktail recipe into a cocktail suited for human consumption: Just omit the calming supplement and add some light rum and garnish. Yum! (Do not under any circumstances serve or let your dog taste alcoholic beverages.)

Piña Colada Inspired Mutt Mocktail DIY Dog Treat Recipe
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/2 banana, sliced
1/2 cup frozen or fresh pineapple chunks
1/2 cup frozen or fresh mango chunks
1/2 cup ice cubs
1-2 pet servings (plus 1 adult serving if you decide to indulge!)

1/2 to 3/4 cup
1Cut all fruit and add to a blender.
2Add ice and pour in unsweetened coconut milk.
3Blend until smooth.
4Pour about 1/2 to 3/4 cup into your dog’s bowl, depending on the size of your dog (give less to smaller dogs). Add 4 drops of Rescue Remedy Stress Relief Pet Supplement (per package instructions) and stir.
Any extra can be stored in an air-tight container in your fridge for up to 3 days, or can be turned into a humans-only cocktail via the instructions below.
Ready to turn that mutt mocktail into a humans-only cocktail? Here’s how.

2 Add a shot of light rum if desired and either blend again or stir. (Do not, under any circumstances, serve or let your dog taste alcoholic beverages.)
3Pour into a cocktail glass and garnish with a pineapple wedge and cherry.
