Las Vegas, Nevada, is a popular travel destination that attracts visitors from all over the world due to its multitude of casinos and hotels, the non-stop bustle of The Strip and its unrivaled nightlife. But seasoned travelers know there’s more to Vegas than the gambling and glamour. Its also a family-friendly destination—and that includes four-legged family members. The entire area is teeming with hotels, attractions and restaurants that increasingly welcome pups and their parents, making it a great pet-friendly vacation destination. “Las Vegas is, at its heart—underneath all the glitz, glitter and showgirls—a very small town,” says Cathy Brooks, owner of The Hydrant Club, a doggy daycare and training center in Downtown Las Vegas. “[Residents] really care about their neighbors and engage with each other. It is a very pet-centric town. They love their dogs. They love their pets. And they love talking them places and having things to do with them.” Discover what Sin City has to offer pet parents and their pups, and why it makes for a fun spring break family vacation. Dog-Friendly Las Vegas Hotels A surprising number of Las Vegas hotels welcome pets. From quiet and smoke-free off-Strip properties to some of the most glamorous and iconic properties in town, there are an array of pet-friendly Las Vegas hotels. Luxury Accommodations Delano Las Vegas The all-suite, non-smoking Delano Las Vegas goes all out for its canine guests. Visitors receive a dog-friendly welcome package that includes dog treats, dog poop bags and information about the hotel’s room service menu for dogs and doggy butler service. For dogs who love to be pampered, you can book various services including a daily walk, a room visit with a text confirming your pet is OK, a quick break for your dog and a Plush and Pampered package that includes a daily walk, food and water replenishment, brushing and a staff member spending time with your pet. The special room service menu features delicious dog-friendly snacks and meals, ranging from unsalted pretzel bites to the Bow Wow Burger, an all-natural grass-fed beef patty topped with steamed carrots, asparagus and quinoa. You can even purchase a Dogs of Delano desk calendar featuring shots of the staffs’ pets and backdrop shots of the hotel to commemorate your stay. Each suite allows up to two dogs weighing less than 100 pounds combined. The hotel charges a pet fee of $85 per day, and dogs must be on a leash when not in the room. Rates at the Delano start around $200 per night. Note that rates may change depending on season. The Cosmopolitan One of Las Vegas’ most stylish hotels, The Cosmopolitan offers many amenities for pets and their parents. All rooms at the resort are pet-friendly, and the hotel is home to two dog runs—including one that runs alongside the happening Chelsea Pool. Amenities for dogs include premium, healthy treats, chews, toys and accessories from artisan brands. Guests also receive a collapsible water and pee pads. Guests may bring up to two dogs—any size, any breed—with them during their stay for $50 (plus tax) per dog, per night. The Cosmopolitan’s nightly rate is around $200. Note that rates may change depending on season Caesars Palace Dogs are welcome at Caesars Palace as part of its PetStay Program. This iconic Strip hotel is modeled after the palaces of Roman royalty—think columns, high ceilings and traditional Roman architecture. Rooms feature modern amenities like plush bedding, a marble bathroom and cool grey tones accented by royal blue and Champagne gold. Select rooms in the Augustus Tower are pet-friendly, and there’s a pet relief area located just outside of the tower entrance. Only two dogs are allowed per room, and they must weigh no more than 50 pounds and be present at time of check-in. Guests must make reservations in advance to get a pet-friendly room. Dogs can walk through common areas as long as they’re on a leash. They must be kenneled/crated when left unattended or when housekeeping staff enters the room. The hotel charges a refundable $100 per day fee. The nightly rate at Caesars Palace is around $300, depending on the season. Dog-Friendly Budget Hotels Element Las Vegas Summerlin Many reviewers praise the Element Las Vegas Summerlin for being a quiet and smoke-free alternative to hotels on The Strip. The hotel is a 10-minute drive to The Strip and is located near the pet-friendly attraction Red Rock Canyon. Expect a modern, contemporary vibe complete with gray headboards and views of the surrounding Mojave Desert. Guests can look forward to receiving signature beds, food, water bowls and supplies for their canine companions. Two dogs under 40 pounds each are allowed per room. The hotel charges a one-time fee of $50 per stay in addition to a $50 pet deposit. Room rates are around $130 per day. The Platinum Hotel & Spa Located within walking distance from The Strip, The Platinum Hotel & Spa is an all-suite, non-gaming and non-smoking location that welcomes dogs. Pup might even receive treats upon check-in. Many reviewers praise the hotel for its very spacious rooms, which include full kitchens, soaking tubs and balconies. The hotel even features a dog play area by the parking garage. It’s also less than one mile from notable Northern Thai restaurant Lotus of Siam—one of the late chef Anthony Bourdain’s favorite local haunts. Room rates start at around $150 per night. Dogs less than 40 pounds are welcome, but no more than two dogs per room. The hotel charges a $100 nonrefundable cleaning fee per stay. Dog-Friendly Attractions When in Vegas, there are many adventures to get into. Check out the most dog-friendly attractions below, and the best part is you can be sure it’ll stay in Vegas! The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” Sign You’re in Vegas, so you might as well start your journey at one of the city’s most famous sites: The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” Sign. Located at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard, the sign serves as the background for many tourist photos. Snap a pic with your pet in front of this iconic sign. The Las Vegas Strip To really soak up the town, pet parents can walk their leashed dogs on The Strip from 5 a.m. until noon every day. The Strip refers to a roughly four mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard that’s known for its many hotels and casinos, including the Bellagio, Paris Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and New York New York. It’s a great place for people watching. Seven Magic Mountains Seven Magic Mountains is a striking public art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinon that provides pets and their parents with a great photo opportunity. About 30 minutes from Las Vegas on Interstate 15, expect to see seven 30- to 35-foot-high dayglow stacks of multicolored painted boulders that break up the surrounding Mojave Desert’s neutral colors. It’s become one of the area’s most popular destinations. You’ll want to head here soon. The installation opened in 2016, and it’s not certain for how long it will remain open. Pet parents are asked to bring waste bags and clean up after their dogs. Red Rock Canyon Leashed dogs are allowed at stunning Red Rock Canyon, a natural wonder that’s about a 30-minute drive from The Strip. During this one-way, 13-mile driving tour, expect to see red rock sandstone formations throughout the park that change color in the sunlight. Park in the designated lots as you admire the iconic Southwest scenery. Dogs are welcome to join their parents on 26 numbered hikes and trails that offer a wide range of difficulty. The park asks that pet parents pick up after their dogs, and dogs cannot be left unattended in cars. Historic Rail Road Trail One of the area’s best-kept secrets is the Historic Rail Road Trail near Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Opened in 2015 as a recreational hiking area, you can walk under tunnels that once were where railroad traversed to transport materials used to help build the Hoover Dam. The entire trail is 7.5 miles round trip. Hikers are rewarded with lake and mountain views on a relatively flat trail. Expect to pass under five massive 300-foot-long and 25-foot-wide tunnels. Dogs need to be on leashes that are no more than six feet long. Pet parents need to bring and use waste bags. Dogs can use the trail, but they are not allowed in the Dam Visitor Center parking area. Dog-Friendly Restaurants and Shops   From a chic Italian coffee shop to an upscale dog boutique, Las Vegas offers many restaurants and shops that welcome pet parents and their pooches. Tivoli Village Loosely modeled after an Italian villa, Summerlin’s Tivoli Village is known for being a dog-friendly destination with restaurants and shops you can visit with your pup in tow. About a 15-minute drive from Las Vegas, The Village asks that pets remain on leashes and that parents pick up after their pets. One of those welcome spots is the Italian-style coffee shop Leone Café, which welcomes dogs on its spacious outdoor patio. Look forward to sipping espresso-based drinks paired with traditional Italian paninis while your dog sits beside you. Town Square Roughly 10 minutes from The Strip, Town Square is another shopping, dining and entertainment district that welcomes pets. For blinged-out collars and leashes that would be perfect to commemorate a trip to Las Vegas, consider stopping by The Dog House boutique. This specialty shop is full of fun pet souvenirs, including Welcome to Vegas tees and bandanas. When it’s time to eat, consider stopping by one of Sin City’s two Lazy Dog dog-friendly restaurants. Dogs can join their parents on the patio where they can dine together. For humans, this Southern California-based chain offers seasonal and American fare alongside an extensive craft menu. The dog menu includes a complimentary bowl of water, plain brown rice, grilled chicken breast and brown rice, and grilled hamburger patty and brown rice. Dogs must be leashed and on the ground—not in people’s laps or on a chair. Park on Fremont Downtown Vegas, known as Fremont Street—where people gambled before the glittery Strip was built—is being revitalized with a slew of new restaurants and shops opening up. Park on Freemont is one of those new establishments and happens to be dog-friendly. The gastropub’s lively dog-friendly outdoor patio features an open fireplace and eclectic art throughout. Menu highlights include Bloody Marys, house-made burgers and crispy Brussel sprouts.
