Star Trek actor Chris Pine can add a great new title to his already A-list resume: Pit Bull dad.
This week, the talented Hell or High Water star visited the North Central Shelter in Los Angeles, California, and met a six-month-old Pit Bull that captured his heart.
The moment when Pine and his new best friend got to go home was captured on the organization’s Instagram page, with a caption that read “Super handsome guys adopt dogs too! And sweet Pit Bulls at that.”
(Pine’s decision to adopt a Pit Bull comes at a crucial time, especially in light of the devastating breed ban in Montreal.)
Kerry Armstrong, the Founder & Executive Director of Home Dog LA (a a non-profit Intervention Program that works out of the shelter), tells PawCulture that, “Chris was very kind and very down to earth. He was friendly with all of the shelter staff.”
Armstrong hopes that Pine’s choice to adopt—not shop—will resonate with fans and fellow animal lovers.
“Don’t buy a dog from a breeder,” says Armstrong. “Anyone who can should adopt or foster an animal from their local animal shelter. There are many wonderful pets there who will fit nicely into a home. Some people do not know that they can find all breeds, breed mixes and sizes of dogs at the animal shelter. Find the dog or cat who is right for you and take home your new best friend!”
