Children aren’t the only ones who get excited when meeting one of their favorite Disney characters. A service dog named Atlas was overjoyed when he got to meet his favorite Disney character, Pluto, in real life. (Just like this dog who got to meet the life-sized version of her favorite Gumby toy.)
The 1-year-old Golden Retriever belongs to Julian Gavino. Gavino has a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Type 3, which affects the elasticity of skin and strength of joints.
The 22-year-old got Atlas in November 2017 from New Horizons Service Dogs in Orange City, Florida, to assist him with a variety of tasks, including helping him get dressed and undressed, pulling him in his wheelchair when he gets too tired or the terrain is too difficult, and opening and closing doors and cabinets.
When Atlas is not helping Gavino, he loves to play with his Pluto dog plush toy. He finally got to meet the big, yellow dog during a recent trip to Disney World.
Gavino lives nearby and regularly visits the park, but this was the first time they came across Pluto. And Atlas was not disappointed.
“I would describe their meeting as magical and love at first sight!” Davino told us.
Davino shared a video of the meeting in the Facebook group Dogspotting Society, and it’s a delight to watch. We hope Atlas and Pluto become the best of friends.
