A dog harness is a dog walking staple. In fact, many pet parents opt for dog harnesses instead of dog collars. Why? Because they help distribute pressure away from their fur baby’s neck that’s caused by the leash, especially in dogs who pull. The best dog harnesses will have secure leash attachment points, be made with durable, easy to clean materials and have several adjustment points for a comfortable fit.
We’ve rounded up the best-selling, top-rated dog harnesses that have been tested and approved by Chewy dog owners like you, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the best one for your dog-walking duties.

Best Overall Dog Harness

Highly recommend!
This harness is cute and lightweight. Very easy to put on my new wiggly pup. He is growing so fast, I'll need to order the next size up soon!
-
Absolutely perfect fit!
Purchased this for a small Morkie. He is very sensitive to any pressure on his throat. This fits perfectly and does not interfere with his throat, He loves it and thinks he is a big dog now! Great quality at a great price.

GREAT HARNESS
I have a 4 lb. Yorkie puppy, and I have ordered many different sizes of harnesses and this one fit him perfectly. I highly recommend it!
Best No-Pull Dog Harness
-
Miracle harness!!
If your dog is a puller - get this harness and watch the magic happen. Our dog was a serious puller, and despite all efforts to train that out of him, he would persist at the pulling. Someone recommended this harness and I gave it a try. He no longer pulls, and walks very nicely now. It is a Miracle!

Easy Walking!
I have 2 young, energetic dogs that love walks. My female easily responds to me when she wears her Gentle leader. Her brother is literally too head strong to stop pulling when he wears his. This Easy Walking harness changed that from the very start. Now, I can safely walk both my dogs in my neighborhood - no matter what we encounter.
-
Works as designed.
Helps with pulling on my 4 month old GSD puppy. Easy to put on. Takes a little work to get adjusted but worth the time.
Best Harness for a Puppy
-
Perfect - Would recommend
Got this for my 10 month old sheltie because she hated the martingale collar. Worked just as well as a martingale without the discomfort on her nose.
-
Great Dog Harness
This harness is one of the best. It is well made and helps with control of your dog. This is my 2nd one and I will buy again.
-
Great Harness
Our lab outgrew the medium harness so we recently replaced it with the large. He is about 70lbs and it fits great!
Best Small Dog Harness

Love this harness so much!
This harness is perfect for my Yorkipoo who was pulling a lot on his walks. It is secure and comfortable. I love how it clips onto the leash on both sides so it will not come apart during walks. Great product.
-
Best harness ever
This is my 3rd set of harnesses for my dogs. The design is especially helpful for small dogs with large rib cages but small necks. And these harnesses are sewn and designed to withstand a lot!
-
Velcro and buckle harness
.Had one of these for 10 years but ring rusted (my fault). Was able to get new one. The old ones just buckled but the new ones have velcro for double fastening. I suppose it would also hug a little dog that needed that for anxiety. The mere sight of it at my house says "outing"

Best Dog Harness with Handle

Outstanding Harness
Picked this up for our 120lb Shepard. Looks great, fits great and works well. Really love the handle on the back...
-
Durable, great for dogs who pull
I got a size L for my 72 lb lab and fits perfectly. Great quality and helps a lot of your dog is a puller. Got originally for car rides so he can be buckled in with a harness rather than with a regular collar around the neck. The harness is cushioned and has reflective strips on it, would recommend!

Big Boy Harness
We bought this large harness with the sturdy handle for our energetic and very excited huge pup. So far it is awesome and seems comfortable for him. I like the reflective straps. The top ring is a bit small and I am hoping it doesn't break.
Best Dog Hiking Harness

Awesome Harness
Love this harness! We got the orange color and it is a nice and bright. The reflective part of the harness barely takes any light for it light up. My pup measured about 30in so I got him the large and it fits great. The material is nice and strong and both loops for the leash are metal. My pup used pull hard and this works great for controlling him better during walks. I would recommend this harness to anyone.

Very well made
These are legit! Very well made and my mini dachshunds don't slip out of them like the cheaper harnesses. Expensive but worth it!
-
Great harness!!
This harness is true to size, my 50 lb pitbull fits perfectly in the large. It was pretty easy to adjust and is easy to get on/off my dog. The front clip makes walking my dog SO EASY, she just cannot pull and having the back clip as an option is also great. No complaints
Best Walk-in Dog Harness
-
The best harness
My Pomeranian loves to go for walks but pulls on a regular harness. Spoon harness keeps him leashed but stops the pressure on his throat and neck. Highly recommend .
-
Sporn harness
Got this for my fat Lab! I just adopted her and she has skin issues on her neck so this light-weight harness causes no rubbing and is also very effective to control her as walking is new to her.
-
Great harness for a dog that pulls
Our dog is small only 11 pounds but she is part beagle so loves to chase squirrels and birds. This harness is good because it is soft and if she pulls it doesn't choke her.
Best Dog Car Harness
-
Very nice harness
This harness is very nice I love that it has little dashes everywhere you need to adjust. It makes it much easer when you are trying to get it just right for your fur baby.
-
A great harness!
We have bought several of these as our dogs have grown. This is a super secure harness and is easy to get on and off. The seatbelt fastener is a good thing to have, too.
-
better than I thought
I LOVE this harness. I was kinda nervous at first because there arent any buckles. but it hold so well. It is so much better than the old harness my doggo had. he has more comfortable range with this. and I really like the handle on the back and the clip on the back. Very easy to get on doggo.( if they stand still for you. probably not recommended for puppies)

This harness makes all the difference
Mikey, a 6 yo Chuskie, had become almost impossible to walk. After I figured out how to properly place her in the harness, the problem was been resolved.
-
Love this harness -
So easy to adjust to fit and pretty easy to put on (once you have it the right way up). Love that you can hook the leash on the front or his back. We have one of these for both of our dogs.

Finally found the perfect harness!
My dog outgrew (in girth) her gentle leader harness. I tried several others, but this one is perfect! She's not a bad puller, so doesn't need the shoulder squeezing of the gentle leader, but I like that this one has a front leash anchor option for more control and a back anchor for hiking or ruining. I like that it's not bulky and doesn't have big buckles. I like that I don't have to put it over her head and, while not as quick or one handed as the gentle leader, it's pretty quick release too. I read all kinds of reviews. Wirecutter didn't taste this harness very highly, but I think they're wrong! They seemed to place a lot of importance on...

Great harness, cute color
This harness is perfect for my medium sized blue heeler. The pink color is bright and pretty, and matches the pink Frisco leash perfectly. Love!
-
Love the harness!
Charlie is a 75# husky mix that pulled me along our walks. He is also dog reactive and REALLY wants to play with others as we walk by. This front clip harness is a dream come true! He is an angel on our walks, no tugging! Then he sees other fur friends, he still tries to go over and play (we are still working on training) but now it is easy to control and redirect him. The harness seems very comfortable and I have confidence that he won't slip out of it when he tries to bolt. The only negative I have is that it moves a little (side to side depending on which side the leash falls) .He does not even notice the movement. Because it does slide...

I use this to lift my 60+lb. labrador into the car
one hand on this and one on a diaper gets her up the custom ramp i made and into the custom flat dog bed i made in the back of my car so she's not tortured in the bucket seats made for humans(?)
