A dog harness is a dog walking staple. In fact, many pet parents opt for dog harnesses instead of dog collars. Why? Because they help distribute pressure away from their fur baby’s neck that’s caused by the leash, especially in dogs who pull. The best dog harnesses will have secure leash attachment points, be made with durable, easy to clean materials and have several adjustment points for a comfortable fit.
We’ve rounded up the best-selling, top-rated dog harnesses that have been tested and approved by Chewy dog owners like you, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the best one for your dog-walking duties.

Best Overall Dog Harness
-
Soft and easy to put on.
Bought this for our 9 week old puppy. Was easy to put on. Is soft and does not bother him. Love the leash that comes with it.
-
the big cat stands like she's more distinguished in it!
Yesterday she stood on it, one front paw in each "armhole", no treats in sight - until I would clip it onto her since she hadn't worn it in 2 days (she was sneezing, and our heater didn't work at all, so I didn't push her further then). Then she seemed happy and purring, and of course.... I gave her some treats!
-
Fit great
I love that the leash connector is on the top and there are no buckles that bonk his arms when he walks.
Best No-Pull Dog Harness
-
Effective harness
My dog is HUGE (235 lbs). He doesn’t pull on the leash unless he gets excited about meeting new people. I weigh 50 lbs less than he does and can control him with this harness. If I used a regular collar, he would be more like a sled dog and I wouldn’t be able to handle him when he’s excited.
-
The buckles are new
This is a replacement harness because my girls have done some irreversable chewing on the old fasteners and they are rigged together with small caribiners.
-
Harnesses
I guess what was amazing was the sizing was spot on. Since that was most important since we have owned two of these in the past. They are great harnesses.
Best Harness for a Puppy
-
ease of use
I like that it fits on easily and really does keep my puppy from pulling, without being harmful at all!
-
Awesome harness
This type of harness is fantastic. It's important to know that with a little bit of sewing the buckles won't move at all. Once you have it adjusted the way you need it to be put a few stitches in it and you will be satisfied for years of use!
-
Great harness
It is a great harness but my baby girl has weird body and it was too tight on her pits. Kept the harness Incase we ever find a stray dog.
Best Small Dog Harness
-
Puppy harness cuteness
I have 3 puppies at the same time and this is best bang for buck. Super begining friendly and great to help train to walk side by side. #chewytogether
-
Great quality
This is the second time I buy this harness. The first one lasted 4 years, using it every day, 3 times a day. Very good quality!
-
Soft and comfortable
I have a very old dog that needed a harness that she could wear for long periods of time. This harness is perfect because it is soft and non restrictive.

Best Dog Harness with Handle
-
Sturdy, attractive, ease of mobility
The size is perfect. My dog is a male Australian Shepard that weighs about 52 lbs. The medium size is working well. I have an inch or two left for a bigger size. The handle on the back is easy to find and grab when needed. IMy only wish is that the front lead on the chest was a little higher. I use that attachment point to help my pup from pulling. It works well but the leash hits his front leg more than I'd like but it still does the job! I get gppd comments at the dog park.
-
Best harness for my senior
This was a huge help for my senior girl who needed help up and down curbs/steps. It seemed comfortable for her and the chest piece was nicely padded.
-
Fast delivery and good product
As usual, Chewy delivered on time, the order was correct and the harness was a good fit for my dog. Excellent as usual.
Best Dog Hiking Harness
-
GREAT Fit
This harness allows me to take Rosie for walks on the roads with no risk of her getting out of the harness as can happen with a collar. It is more comfortable for her as well.
-

-

This fits my 32 pound pomsky great!! Feels very secure and he seems to be comfortable in it. I believe we got a medium
Best Walk-in Dog Harness
-
Sporn no pull harness
I have used this harness in the past and like it because it doesn't have any buckles and can either be tight or loose at any time during the walk. It works well as a no pull harness, however, no harness will work without training on the human level.
-
Great harness at a good price
My Boston Terrier has worn this brand of leash his whole life. It’s comfortable and easy to put on him. Chewy’s price and shipping time beat the Am site so it’s a good combin to buy it here.
-
This fit perfect !
I have been thru different harnesses and this one by far is the best ! My dog neck is 13 inches and the medium fit perfect ! Snug and secure
Best Dog Car Harness
-
Great quality!
This is such a great quality harness. It’s very great material and you can tell it’s going to last a long time. It fits really well and is the perfect addition to my dog ownership.
-
Goes on Easily
Great safety harness that transitions quickly from riding securely in a car to walking in the park. Very pleasant with the purchase.
-
This product is just the best!
Talk about peace of mind. After hearing about a tragic accident involving a friend’s dog, I immediately began researching safety harnesses for my dogs. We have used Kurgo seatbelt harnesses for over 15 years, and our babies never take a car ride without them. This newer design offers a more customizable fit and nice light cushioning for comfort. There are two ways to attach a leash—from the front of the chest to help stop pulling, and from the back. There is a small learning curve to figure out how to put this on your dog, but once you get it, it’s super simple. The buckle fasteners are so secure and prevent your dog from slipping...
Best Mesh Harness for Dogs
-
The way it fits.
This harness is very adjustable. I can get it just right. Also the reflectiveness is very good for those night walks.
-
Perfect. The chest piece is long enough that the front straps don't rub under her front legs. She is at the borderline for medium versus large but the medium is plenty big enough.
-
a great purchase
I’ve had this harness and leash since my dog was a puppy he’s seven now! It has been washed after every bath and camping trip for seven years! It has kept its nice color never frayed or any of the clasps broke! I’m looking or replace this now only because I’m bored of the color! My dogs a real puller when walking so it’s strong as well. Sadly they only have girly colors in stock so I’ll have to shop elsewhere but I’ll definitely stick with blueberry pet!#blueberrypetamazing
Best Reflective Dog Harness
-
Recommend over the horizontal loop
Ordered the cheaper one and it chaffed my small dog's front legs. This one works better with double attachments. She still pulls but less so.
-
Great Control
We had one of these before and used it for years. The buckle broke on the old one and we would have had it repaired but decided to get another one of the same brand. The fit well and do the job of control using the info included with the harness.
-
How well made this Harness is!
It's not only well made but adjusts very easily to get a great fit, I like that it also reflects light at night and I feel my dog is comfortable in it.
Best Budget Dog Harness
-
Nice fit!
My skinny dog has a very narrow neck and head but deep chest. Most halters fit around the bottom of chest but neck and front of chest too large. This halter fit just right. His profile is similar to a miniature greyhound.
-
Easy to use
This harness is easy to put on my dog and he doesn't pull at all when wearing it. Great product for the price.
-
No pull harness
Works as stated - have two huge dogs and fit is an issue - this item worked for 200lb and 150lb babies!
