A dog harness is a dog walking staple. In fact, many pet parents opt for dog harnesses instead of dog collars. Why? Because they help distribute pressure away from their fur baby’s neck that’s caused by the leash, especially in dogs who pull. The best dog harnesses will have secure leash attachment points, be made with durable, easy to clean materials and have several adjustment points for a comfortable fit.
We’ve rounded up the best-selling, top-rated dog harnesses that have been tested and approved by Chewy dog owners like you, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the best one for your dog-walking duties.

Best Overall Dog Harness
-
The placement of the leash holder
It is a lil big but my puppy is a toy breed and will fill it out immediately sure I ordered an XS
-
Easy on harness
Easy on with two legs in the front and an easy clip on the back. The two metal ring near the clip I use to attach my boys seatbelt. Works great!!
-
It’s what I ordered.
It fits perfectly. I’ve had 2 of these voyager harnesses so far and I like them. They’re sturdy.
Best No-Pull Dog Harness
-
Notable difference
Her pulling seems mostly puppy energy, and training was going well, however my mother helps take care of her sometimes, and with her arthritis makes any pulling hard. This made things so much easier while I train her in the meantime, immediate change in pulling. Again, notable that her training was going well so her pulling issues were not super serious. Helps with more training!
-
Well made, adjustable
We were going to give it 4 stars, but it is really great, but need a better way to control pulling like "training".
-
Great for dogs that like taking their humans on walks
My golden is a puller but this harness has been giving her walks more pleasurable. It took a few tries to figure out how to position it correctly but the instructions are great. We can go on walks now and I’m not worried that she’s going to try to pull me to the ground.
Best Harness for a Puppy
-
Amazing
I have to admit, I was a bit leery about the no pull harness, but thought I would try it. Amazing! King isn’t dragging me when he gets excited! Works like a charm!
-
Attractive and Well Made
We prefer using harnesses for our Great Danes rather than collars to protect the neck area while walking or in the vehicle. They do wear collars with ID info as well
-
Great product!
Always been a fan of the Easy Walk harnesses, simply to adjust for sizing and easy to put on and remove from my dogs.
Best Small Dog Harness
-
Cute
My tiny dog wears a tiny halter and this one has clips big enough for my arthritic fingers to be able to work. Tiny clips often jam I find.
-
Long Haired Chihuahua - approves
Based on my measurements and the chart I was right at the cusp of two sizes. I elected for the larger size since Buffy often needs to wear a shirt or sweater. The fit it well even without clothes. The harness is very easy for me to get on and off of her. Our last harness went over the head and clipped at the waist, so this is a lot less stressful for her. I will likely buy the smaller size for summer. The attached photo is her wearing the size 18-21 inch chest in blue. Pet measures neck- 11.5 inches, shoulders- 18 inches, waist- 16 inches.

Wonderful Harness
We've gone through quite a few of these harnesses with our two dogs. We love them, colors are great and they fit perfectly!

Best Dog Harness with Handle
-
Quality is great.
It worked great for my dog. I ordered the matching leash, they look and work great together. I would recommend.
-
Walkies are the best with the vest
I grew really fast and was super excited when Chewy delivered my new vest. It makes sure cars can see me as I cross the road with my boy wagging my tail. It it super comfy and ai get lots of compliments on the color choice of purple for royalty.

I have much more control over my 75 pound lab.
My male lab has started to get very protective of me. When we walk he can display aggressive behavior toward other dogs even though he is very gentle. The harness helps me get him in a neutral place and the handle on top is great for extra control. He's very strong and I'm all of 118 pounds so very helpful.

I like the Reflection
I wanted my dog to be visible when I walk him at the night. I finally found one perfect size for him.
-
Color
Love this one! better than the one I had before. the color is perfect for any time of day - Green. Also the reflectors work great at night.
-
It’s sturdiness
attach Should last a long time. Capable to leash both top & underneath, 2 connections for extra safety with a top strap to grasp if you have to lift your dog.
Best Walk-in Dog Harness

I wouldn’t say no pull
Because she definitely still pulls. But it is a solid harness that is lightweight and comfy and easy to use. We’ve had hers for several years now and it’s going just as strong as when we got it.
-
This really works
I have spent an insane amount of money trying to find something that works on our heavy-pulling/large dog. This is the best I've found!
-
Happy to find these harnesses
I have used a harness like these for 16 years. All of a sudden, the place that I bought them no longer carried them. I didn't want to changed as these are perfect for my 4 smaller girls..the oldest is about 20 lbs the smallest about 8 lbs, I figured that Chewy would be the only place I might find something. And, I did. These harnesses are back lead harnesses and very easily adjustable. My girls stepped in as if they knew exactly what was going on. It will take a few days to soften up as with anything new. Honestly, so happy to find these. My youngest girl will be 3 on Valentines Day so I certainly hope this company continues to make them. I...
Best Dog Car Harness
-
Great harness!
Sturdy metal snap stays snapped, not like the plastic one on our last Kurgo harness, and the metal connectors are easier to use and stronger than the plastic snap connectors on the old one.
-
Outstanding
Having a seatbelt attachment is the best idea ever. Knowing that my baby is safe and secure makes car rides so much more relaxing. Heavy duty very well made harness.
-
Fits broad chest
Our dog is a boxer mix, so she has a barrel chest but slim waist. Other harnesses don't fit well, but this is the best one yet. It took us a bit to get the fit just right, but the dual tightening options really helped.
Best Mesh Harness for Dogs
-
Stylish and secure
Highly reflective strips for evening walks. Easy on/off. Buckles feel sturdy and secure (our reason for replacing her previous harness.) Also, looks super cute on.
-
The way it fits.
This harness is very adjustable. I can get it just right. Also the reflectiveness is very good for those night walks.
-
Perfect. The chest piece is long enough that the front straps don't rub under her front legs. She is at the borderline for medium versus large but the medium is plenty big enough.
Best Reflective Dog Harness
-
Works well for walks
When we first got out rescue she had never been leash trained. Had severe reactivity in the beginning. This harness has been great to help her learn and stay in control.
-
Most versatile
This is one of the most versatile harnesses for dogs. We have been through several and this is the best. Especially if you have a dog that sniffs a lot it won’t fall off.
-
Great Harness
I have 3 dogs that do Scent Work and all of them use this style/brand of harness. The harness is comfortable for them and allows freedom of movement.
Best Budget Dog Harness
-
Great Harness for Big Dogs
We have been struggling to find a harness for this barrel chested beast we call Bubba. This harness was easy to put on and definitely did what it was supposed to do.
-
Fits well
This is a good one to try. My Jack is thicker through the chest and slim in the neck. It’s fitting her well.
-
Good quality, easy to adjust and put on.
My boxers would pull like crazy on their walks. It took all of the fun out of it. These actually made them stop pulling! I wish I'd gotten these months ago!
