A dog harness is a dog walking staple. In fact, many pet parents opt for dog harnesses instead of dog collars. Why? Because they help distribute pressure away from their fur baby’s neck that’s caused by the leash, especially in dogs who pull. The best dog harnesses will have secure leash attachment points, be made with durable, easy to clean materials and have several adjustment points for a comfortable fit.
We’ve rounded up the best-selling, top-rated dog harnesses that have been tested and approved by Chewy dog owners like you, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the best one for your dog-walking duties.

Great Harness
It's very easy for your pet to step in. Make sure you measure your pet. It's velcro closing is snug so it fits well!
-
Love this!!!
I’m glad I made this purchase! The durability & comfort of the harness is what I, as well as my dog, appreciate!!
-
Beautiful harness.
It is exactly like the harness my dog used for a long time. I had trouble with sizing. But I worked it out.
Best No-Pull Dog Harness
-
No more pulling!
Wynona is my sweet adopted pup. She joined me fully potty trained but not leash trained. Her pulling made our walks hard on us both...until we tried this harness. Made a big difference, stopped her pulling and now our walks are the best part of our day!
-
Easy Walk Harness - It works!
My dog doesn't try to pull anymore. She walks loose an the leash. It's also very light, so she can wear it all the time.
-
Best dog harness!
I've now successfully leash trained 3 large dogs with this harness, including a very strong one who pulled me down to the ground a couple times. It just works to help them not pull as much, making it much easier to gain enough control to train. Well-designed, good product. I've tried every combination of collar, harness, and leash over the years with many dogs, and this has worked the best for most of my dogs.
Best Harness for a Puppy
-
Amazing
I have to admit, I was a bit leery about the no pull harness, but thought I would try it. Amazing! King isn’t dragging me when he gets excited! Works like a charm!
-
Attractive and Well Made
We prefer using harnesses for our Great Danes rather than collars to protect the neck area while walking or in the vehicle. They do wear collars with ID info as well
-
Great product!
Always been a fan of the Easy Walk harnesses, simply to adjust for sizing and easy to put on and remove from my dogs.
Best Small Dog Harness
-
Quality
I bought this harness for my Boston Terrier / Pug mix. He weighs 13 lbs and this fits perfectly. I have one in a smaller size for my chihuahua that he’s used for several years. In my opinion, they are the best harness for small dogs. Great quality, great fit, and keeps my fur babies safe.
-
Cute
My tiny dog wears a tiny halter and this one has clips big enough for my arthritic fingers to be able to work. Tiny clips often jam I find.
-
Long Haired Chihuahua - approves
Based on my measurements and the chart I was right at the cusp of two sizes. I elected for the larger size since Buffy often needs to wear a shirt or sweater. The fit it well even without clothes. The harness is very easy for me to get on and off of her. Our last harness went over the head and clipped at the waist, so this is a lot less stressful for her. I will likely buy the smaller size for summer. The attached photo is her wearing the size 18-21 inch chest in blue. Pet measures neck- 11.5 inches, shoulders- 18 inches, waist- 16 inches.

Best Dog Harness with Handle
-
Quality is great.
It worked great for my dog. I ordered the matching leash, they look and work great together. I would recommend.

Walkies are the best with the vest
I grew really fast and was super excited when Chewy delivered my new vest. It makes sure cars can see me as I cross the road with my boy wagging my tail. It it super comfy and ai get lots of compliments on the color choice of purple for royalty.

I have much more control over my 75 pound lab.
My male lab has started to get very protective of me. When we walk he can display aggressive behavior toward other dogs even though he is very gentle. The harness helps me get him in a neutral place and the handle on top is great for extra control. He's very strong and I'm all of 118 pounds so very helpful.

Double clip/reflective
It’s a great harness. I love the fact that there’s a handle, it’s a double clip, and it’s reflective. It also fits well on my corgi mix.
-
Sturdy!
Really helps my tri-paw stay on her feet! She used to fall forward on her chin, this design alerts me to pull up a bit to prevent a fall! The reflective threads are super bright too. Very easy to put on and take off too! Love it!
-
Sturdy
I’ve had this for a while now and always though I don’t use it much I feel like it’s well made and sturdy. I use it a lot to strap my dog into the back seat so she doesn’t go flying if I accidentally have to brake suddenly or if I get in an accident. It also keeps her from distracting me by moving around when I’m driving. I occasionally use it for walks, but she’s still learning to heal and the prong collar works better for hat.
Best Walk-in Dog Harness

Exactly what my Vet suggested
My Frenchie has spine issues and is being treated. My vet recommended this harness. It fits perfectly and is easy to put on and off. Most importantly it does not cause pressure on the neck and upper spine. My frenchie Is quite happy with it
-
I wouldn’t say no pull
Because she definitely still pulls. But it is a solid harness that is lightweight and comfy and easy to use. We’ve had hers for several years now and it’s going just as strong as when we got it.
-
This really works
I have spent an insane amount of money trying to find something that works on our heavy-pulling/large dog. This is the best I've found!
Best Dog Car Harness

2nd time buying!
This harness is great! I just bought my second one. It is the only one I trust for my large pit/lab mix who is very hard on things. He will snap other harnesses, but not this one. The other one lasted 5 years. Highly recommend!
-
Fits Well
Our dog is about 55-60 lbs and this was recommended to us. It fits him well across the chest, and it provides piece of mind to have him strapped in the back seat if we have to hit the brakes quickly, or if we choose to open the window for him to look out. Our dog has never shown the desire to jump out the window, but it's nice to know that he's strapped in securely and across his chest (as opposed to around his neck) if he sees a squirrel he feels he just has to pursue.
-
Great harness!
Sturdy metal snap stays snapped, not like the plastic one on our last Kurgo harness, and the metal connectors are easier to use and stronger than the plastic snap connectors on the old one.
Best Mesh Harness for Dogs
-
Stylish and secure
Highly reflective strips for evening walks. Easy on/off. Buckles feel sturdy and secure (our reason for replacing her previous harness.) Also, looks super cute on.
-
The way it fits.
This harness is very adjustable. I can get it just right. Also the reflectiveness is very good for those night walks.
-
Perfect. The chest piece is long enough that the front straps don't rub under her front legs. She is at the borderline for medium versus large but the medium is plenty big enough.
Best Reflective Dog Harness

Favorite harness
I LOVE this harness. Fits my block headed, small neck pittie perfectly. Love that it clips around the neck instead of having to slip it over her head. Multiple adjustment points, sturdy, and a solid o-ring on the back. It's held up great over the past 5 years.
-
How it fits
This is 2nd time to purchase the same item. He out grew the small. Liked the fit so I bought the medium.
-
Works well for walks
When we first got out rescue she had never been leash trained. Had severe reactivity in the beginning. This harness has been great to help her learn and stay in control.
Best Budget Dog Harness
-
Great product!
I did not know that hooking my dog at the front of the harness would work so well! My little girl never has figured out how to get out of it so she gives up trying. Very pleased. And the price is great!
-
really reduces pulling
Very economical, easy to put on and using the front clip for the leash (on Rudy's chest) really reduces his pulling

Great Harness for Big Dogs
We have been struggling to find a harness for this barrel chested beast we call Bubba. This harness was easy to put on and definitely did what it was supposed to do.
You can’t go wrong with these Chewy customer favorites, but no matter which one you pick, you’ll want to ensure the harness fits properly. Measure your dog and refer to the product’s sizing guide to find the best fit for your pet. Learn how to measure your dog for a harness here.
