How to Get the Bright-and-Cheery Dopamine Trend for Your Pet

No one does Dopamine dressing and Dopamine décor quite like Maitri Mody, dog mom to Pug Ari and content creator behind the blog and wildly popular Instagram account, Honey I Dressed the Pug. Her NYC home is a dream space where vibrant hues, a mish-mosh of fun and funky patterns, and various textures and shapes marry and merge effortlessly to create a dreamland of color. It’s also where Mody’s 9-year-old Pug shows off his rainbow-hued wardrobe, just like his mom.

“I am always looking for Dopamine décor pieces: pieces that are colorful, quirky and fun—something that instantly brings one joy,” Mody says of her style.

Dopamine is, hands down, the happiest, most joyful, most mood-boosting fashion and home interior design trend out there right now—and it’s a look that’s easy to pull off in a pet-friendly way thanks to Mody, who handpicked her favorite Ari-approved Dopamine home décor and pet furniture, apparel and more.

This rainbow pom-pom dog bed might be the most fun dog bed to look at—and sleep on. It’s handcrafted in Nepal by skilled artisans from 100 perecent merino wool from New Zealand.

“I like sophisticated-modern but at the same time colorful and fun,” Mody says, adding that when shopping for dog beds in the winter, she goes for wool or felt fabrics “that can keep [Ari] snug and cozy.”

Perfect to hang in your office or display on your mantel, this 12-inch-by-12-inch unicorn artwork bursting with color is the perfect example of Dopamine décor. You can’t help but smile looking at it.

“It just makes you happy—everything about it,” Mody says. “The cute Frenchie unicorn, the colors: It adds joy to any space.”

Fellow “Friends” fans, Pure + Good’s Smelly Cat Candle is for you: It’s long-lasting, citrus-scented and will look great in any Dopamine home (hello, bright pink label!).

“This phrase just makes me chuckle because it reminds me of one my favorite shows ever, ‘Friends,’” Mody says. (Same.) “And candles create the perfect cozy fall vibes.”

“These salt and pepper shakers are the cutest I’ve ever seen!” Mody says of Design Imports’ pair of ceramic French Bulldog shakers that are, as the product description states, “hand-painted with love.”

“When you have guests over during fall/holiday season, these would be so fun to have on the dining table. Pretty certain people would want to know where they are from,” Mody says. 😉

Mody on Her Colorful Style

Mody attributes her love of color to not only her upbringing (she grew up in Mumbai where color is “an integral part of the Indian culture,” she explains) but also her time spent living in London, “where one can see beautiful pastel doors, walls, floral arches.”

“This defined my color palette as mostly soft pastel shades that are soothing to the eye, yet very colorful,” Mody says. “I also love combining colors and creating interesting combinations.”

And it’s all Ari-approved. “There are always cozy things to lay on, be it layered throws or a whole bunch of pillows,” Mody says.

Whether you pour a post-work glass of red or fill it up with some sparkling water, this pink stemless wine glass more than belongs in your Dopamine-designed home. And with the capacity to hold 20 ounces, you’ll more than get your fill. Plus, the phrase ”Fur Mama” written on it is bound to spark joy.

“[It’s] super-cute [and] also describes who you are!” Mody says.

Keep your pup or kitten warm (and stylish) with this adorable orange-hued hat printed with tiny white hearts.

“Ari does not like the cold and looks super cute in little beanies and winter accessories,” Mody says. “This one is extra cute and will be perfect to keep his floppy ears warm—as well as make some heads turn.”

This comfy cotton hoodie sporting a removable neon-green fanny pack is the eye candy your pet’s wardrobe desperately needs.

“I love fanny packs and wear them a lot while dog walking to carry essentials—and I love matching with Ari. So, now we will both be twinning when we walk!” Mody says.
