Chocolate can be a sweet and special treat for us around the holidays, but it can quickly become dangerous and extremely toxic to our four-legged friends. The theobromine in chocolate, specifically, builds up in a dog’s system and can lead to an emergency trip to the veterinarian. So swap chocolate out for carob this Valentine’s Day, and make some healthy homemade dog treats for your special, one-in-a-million dog valentine.
Carob is a chocolate alternative that offers a flavor and richness that’s similar to cocoa without the theobromine or health risk to dogs. Spoil your pooch this holiday with this easy dog treat recipe for DIY dog treats packed with tail-waggingly yummy “chocolate” flavor and none of the risk.
