Las Vegas, Nevada, is a popular travel destination that attracts visitors from all over the world due to its multitude of casinos and hotels, the non-stop bustle of The Strip and its unrivaled nightlife. But seasoned travelers know there’s more to Vegas than the gambling and glamour.
Its also a family-friendly destination—and that includes four-legged family members. The entire area is teeming with hotels, attractions and restaurants that increasingly welcome pups and their parents, making it a great pet-friendly vacation destination.
“Las Vegas is, at its heart—underneath all the glitz, glitter and showgirls—a very small town,” says Cathy Brooks, owner of The Hydrant Club, a doggy daycare and training center in Downtown Las Vegas. “[Residents] really care about their neighbors and engage with each other. It is a very pet-centric town. They love their dogs. They love their pets. And they love talking them places and having things to do with them.”

When in Vegas, there are many adventures to get into. Check out the most dog-friendly attractions below, and the best part is you can be sure it’ll stay in Vegas!
The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada” Sign
You’re in Vegas, so you might as well start your journey at one of the city’s most famous sites: The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” Sign. Located at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard, the sign serves as the background for many tourist photos. Snap a pic with your pet in front of this iconic sign.
The Las Vegas Strip
To really soak up the town, pet parents can walk their leashed dogs on The Strip from 5 a.m. until noon every day. The Strip refers to a roughly four mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard that’s known for its many hotels and casinos, including the Bellagio, Paris Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and New York New York. It’s a great place for people watching.
Seven Magic Mountains
Seven Magic Mountains is a striking public art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinon that provides pets and their parents with a great photo opportunity. About 30 minutes from Las Vegas on Interstate 15, expect to see seven 30- to 35-foot-high dayglow stacks of multicolored painted boulders that break up the surrounding Mojave Desert’s neutral colors. It’s become one of the area’s most popular destinations.
You’ll want to head here soon. The installation opened in 2016, and it’s not certain for how long it will remain open. Pet parents are asked to bring waste bags and clean up after their dogs.
Red Rock Canyon
Leashed dogs are allowed at stunning Red Rock Canyon, a natural wonder that’s about a 30-minute drive from The Strip. During this one-way, 13-mile driving tour, expect to see red rock sandstone formations throughout the park that change color in the sunlight.
Park in the designated lots as you admire the iconic Southwest scenery. Dogs are welcome to join their parents on 26 numbered hikes and trails that offer a wide range of difficulty. The park asks that pet parents pick up after their dogs, and dogs cannot be left unattended in cars.
Historic Rail Road Trail
One of the area’s best-kept secrets is the Historic Rail Road Trail near Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Opened in 2015 as a recreational hiking area, you can walk under tunnels that once were where railroad traversed to transport materials used to help build the Hoover Dam. The entire trail is 7.5 miles round trip.
Hikers are rewarded with lake and mountain views on a relatively flat trail. Expect to pass under five massive 300-foot-long and 25-foot-wide tunnels. Dogs need to be on leashes that are no more than six feet long. Pet parents need to bring and use waste bags. Dogs can use the trail, but they are not allowed in the Dam Visitor Center parking area.
Dog-Friendly Restaurants and Shops
From a chic Italian coffee shop to an upscale dog boutique, Las Vegas offers many restaurants and shops that welcome pet parents and their pooches.
Tivoli Village
Loosely modeled after an Italian villa, Summerlin’s Tivoli Village is known for being a dog-friendly destination with restaurants and shops you can visit with your pup in tow. One of those welcome spots is the Italian-style coffee shop Leone Café, which welcomes dogs on its spacious outdoor patio. Look forward to sipping espresso-based drinks paired with traditional Italian paninis while your dog sits beside you.
Town Square
Roughly 10 minutes from The Strip, Town Square is another shopping, dining and entertainment district that welcomes pets.

Dogs must be leashed and on the ground—not in people’s laps or on a chair.
Park on Fremont
Downtown Vegas, known as Fremont Street—where people gambled before the glittery Strip was built—is being revitalized with a slew of new restaurants and shops opening up. Park on Freemont is one of those new establishments and happens to be dog-friendly.
