Was Your Pet Part of Your Engagement? Chewy Wants to See Your ‘Pet-posals’

From facilitating meet cutes to being your beloved third wheel, pets are an important part of relationships. Pets are fur-children, first loves, and sometimes the favorite cuddler. When it’s time to take next steps in a romantic relationship, pets are right there alongside you to share in the excitement.

Chewy wants to celebrate couples who have included pets in their proposal—a pet-posal, if you will—or engagement photos. Whether it’s getting your pet’s permission, having them deliver the ring or even a photobomb happy accident, we’re here for it all.

If you’re getting married in 2024 or 2025, share your pet-posal photos or videos with Chewy, between Jan. 10 and March 31, 2024, for the chance to win a $1,000 Chewy eGift card to put toward your pet expenses during what tends to be a very expensive year. Ten lucky couples will win the eGift card, and 100 couples will win a special surprise gift.

Follow these tips to get your pet to serve their best looks in your special engagement or wedding day.

Know your pet and what they’re comfortable with.

Some pets love being part of the action, while other don't do as well in crowds.

Plan ahead to ensure your wedding venue or proposal location is pet-friendly.

Find out where they allow pets and where your pet will be able to relieve themselves.

Have a dedicated person in charge.

Best if they’re someone your pet is familiar with, like a pet-sitter, family member or friend.

Have treats and toys handy during photo shoots.

These can help keep pets' attention on the camera, and rewarding them for participating will help make the shoot a positive, enjoyable experience.

Practice walking down the aisle.

Have distractors, like music and other people, around so your pet can get a feel for what the environment will be like on the big day.

How to Include Pets in Your Wedding

As your wedding plans commence, you may be wondering how you can extend your pet's involvement to the big day itself. You're not alone! According to a Chewy survey, 21 percent of married couples, or 1 in 5, have included their pets in their weddings.

There are many ways to include your pet in your wedding, whether as involved as walking down the aisle together or, for shyer pets, simply displaying your favorite photo of them at the reception.

These are the most popular ways the couples in Chewy's survey included their pets:
